14 November is the celebrated as the World Diabetes Day.

The World Diabetes Day was first celebrated 1991, it was organized by the International Diabetes Federation (IDF), with the support of the World Health Organization.

347 million people suffer from diabetes (data from 2011.). The incidence is expected to increase, and the experts talk about the epidemic of the 21st century.

WHO predicts that diabetes will be the seventh leading cause of death in 2030.

3.4 million people have died in 2004 due to consequences of high blood sugar levels.
