1978 – Charles Herbert Best died (born February 27, 1899.), the US-Canadian physiologist studied pancreatic extract and the related hormone insulin along with dr. Frederick Banting. After their discovery diabetes started to be treated with insulin.
In 1923. Banting only received the Nobel Prize for the discovery of insulin, Best was not nominated because at the time of the discovery he did not yet receive his doctorate. Banting shared a cash prize with Best.
Best also discovered vitamin choline and enzyme histaminase. First introduced anticoagulants in the treatment of thrombosis.
