2014 – Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev announced that the country will not import american GM products:
“If the Americans like to eat GMO products, let them eat it then. We don’t need to do that; we have enough space and opportunities to produce organic food.”
Medvedev ordered widespread monitoring of the agricultural sector so that GM products and GM seed shall not enter to the Russian market. Two months ago the Russian parliament asked for a temporary ban on all genetically altered products in Russia. There is currently no limitation on the trade or production of GMO-containing food in Russia. However, when the percentage of GMO exceeds 0.9 percent, the producer must label such goods and warn consumers.

1881 – Edwin J. Houston and Elihu Thomson patent the centrifugal separator. The separator became irreplaceable in the dairy industry where it is used to extract fat based on specific gravity differences of fat and other components of milk.
Milk enters the separator through the central opening and enters the drum inside the machine. The drum consists of a series of identical plates where milk is distributed during drum rotation. The rotation of the drum creates the centrifugal force that separates milk fat, which goes near to the axis of rotation, while skim milk goes to the rim of the drum. The highest separator speed increases the centrifugal force, and thus the separation of fat.
