Sassy water

 

“Sassy water” is a drink made using lemon, cucumber, mint and ginger. Can be easily prepared as a summer refreshment and has other health advantages.

Ingredients

2 liters of water (8 cups)
1 small cucumber
1 lemon
1 tablespoon freshly grated ginger
5-6 fresh mint leaves

Preparation

Wash the lemon, slice it, remove the seeds and rind (unless you use organic). Peel the cucumber, slice it, wash the mint leaves, peel and grate the ginger.
Put all ingredients in a jar, add water and mix well. Cover the jar and leave it in the refrigerator overnight.
Use the chilled beverage whenever you’re thirsty. If you like, you can also strain the solids.

This drink is nutritionist Cynthia Sass recipe which was named “Sassy water” in her honor by Prevention magazine. Cynthia is the author of the book “Flat Belly Diet” which recommends drinking this beverage at least four consecutive days at the beginning of her diet. It is believed that this drink flushes out toxins from the body, also “Sassy water” helps digestion and reduces appetite. The prepared quantity is sufficient for one day use.
